Home Security DIY Install

So what is the home security methodology?

1.According to Pete Herzog the process simply involves “[…] separating threats from assets […]”.  2.Safewise suggests that a home security system includes the following components:

  • A control panel to integrate all systems

  • Door and window sensors that detect tampering

  • Motion sensors to monitor unwanted intrusion

  • Hardwired or wireless security cameras

  • A very loud alarm or siren to call attention to the intrusion

  • Visible signs that the home has a security system

With that said, what should you do to ensure you can gain all the benefits while on a tight budget utilizing the home security methodology?

The list below will show you how to integrate your DIY Home Security System yourself, while on a tight budget.

How to install your DIY Home Security System

Installing and integrating a DIY Home Security System can at times, seem daunting.  Honestly, the more educated you are in how the systems speak to each other and how they ‘sense’ changes to their environment the easier it is to complete the job.

The following DIY Home Security tips can assist you on your journey.

3.TIPS:

WINDOW SECURITY GLASS BREAK SENSORS OR INTRUSION SENSORS:

  • Ensure your windows are secured

  • Narrow down you first floor windows and basement windows

The reason for this is that the more sensors you need…the greater the cost.  Stick to the minimal as you can scale up any time.

  • If the area has a broad window set, you can utilize a motion detection device for area coverage

SECURE YOUR DOORS

  • Be sure to install according to the instructions

  • Typically door sensors have a range that is limited

  • Ensure you know the parts: the larger part is the wireless transmitter while the smaller piece is a magnet which the transmitter senses if the circuit is complete or broken.  Once it is in the broken stage, the alarm sounds.

DIY HOME SECURITY MOTION ALARMS

  • Motion Alarms are amazing for area coverage

  • Some utilize infrared which triggers accourding to surrounding temperature

  • Be mindful to keep them pointed away from heat/cooling elements and directly at single-pane windows

  • Small pets (under 40lbs) should not trigger the alarm but consult the product prior to purchasing

  • Locate an area that offers the most coverage of the room and then install/mount the equipment

INTEGRATING THE SECURITY SYSTEMS IN THE CONTROL PANEL

  • Plug in your control panel and via an electrical outlet and phone jack

  • Follow the instruction provided in clear detail

  • Enjoy as you received constant updates!

Home Security does not have to be a budget killing expense.  DIY Home Security systems are always an option and are affordable and scalable.  Advances in technology are clearly in favor of those that need home security.
